Study of Carbohydrate Hydrolysis From Arracacha Roots (Arracacia Xanthorriza Bancroft) to Produce Fermentable Sugars

چکیده

In Colombia, approximately 855 840 tons of arracacha are produced each year. The unsalable postharvest root (Arracacia xanthorriza Bancroft) is not commercialized, mainly due to mechanical damage or small and misshapen roots. this work, dry samples were characterized subjected two treatments: one using thermal hydrolysis, applying saturated steam at pressures 0,1034 MPa, 0,2068 0,4137 MPa; another hydrolysis with sulfuric acid in concentrations between 0,252,00 M. Then, the cake resulting from filtration process was enzymatically hydrolyzed (Liquozyme SC DS, Novozymes) 1,5, 5 10 KNU/g (pH 6, 80 _C, 2 h). Fermentation inhibitors (acetic furfural) evaluated best pretreatment. results showed that treatment 1,00 M (2 h) has high yields reducing sugars added enzymatic hydrolysis. maximum level fermentable carbohydrates per gram sample (1,04 g/g) also reached. Regarding fermentation sugar, a higher concentration acetic found lower furfural content. Therefore, discards promising raw material increase supply bioethanol.

Fermentable sugars by chemical hydrolysis of biomass.

Abundant plant biomass has the potential to become a sustainable source of fuels and chemicals. Realizing this potential requires the economical conversion of recalcitrant lignocellulose into useful intermediates, such as sugars. We report a high-yielding chemical process for the hydrolysis of biomass into monosaccharides. Adding water gradually to a chloride ionic liquid-containing catalytic a...

One and Two Stage Autohydrolysis Pretreatments for Enzyme Hydrolysis of Coastal Bermuda Grass to Produce Fermentable Sugars

Coastal Bermuda grass (CBG) is an agricultural residue with considerable potential as a feedstock for lignocellulosic-based ethanol. The treatment of biomass with water at high temperature, termed autohydrolysis, can be used to recover sugars in the filtrate and to improve enzyme digestibility of the pretreated solids. The effect of a twostage autohydrolysis process with respect to total sugar ...

Production of Fermentable Sugars by Combined Chemo-enzymatic Hydrolysis of Cellulosic Material for Bioethanol Production

To change the recalcitrant nature of the lignocellulosic material for maximum hydrolysis yield, a comprehensive study was done by using sulphuric acid as an exclusive catalyst for the pretreatment process. The enzymatic digestibility of the biomass [Water Hyacinth: Eichhornia crassipes] after pretreatment was determined by measuring the hydrolysis yield of the pretreated material obtained from ...
